Friday’s COVID-19 update from the Eastern Ontario Health Unit showed a positive shift in local measures.

It should be noted that the health unit has not confirmed any new related deaths, with the cumulative total of 201 being stable since Wednesday.

The health unit removed one person from the number of hospitalizations for treatment since Thursday, to five. There is still no one from the area being treated in an intensive/critical care unit.

    EOHU reaches 200 COVID-19 deaths, no one in ICUs

Test positivity reported by the EOHU rose 0.3% on Friday, to 11.5%. Given that the health unit reported an average of 58 people tested per day this week under the more restrictive testing and reporting criteria introduced in late December, this positivity rate corresponds to an average of six to seven new known cases per day. . .

Ontario case count data released each morning attributed 34 more cases to the EOHU on Friday, for a total of 13,704 in that dataset. It did not include any information on the most recent cases reported by the health unit. The health unit added no new COVID-19 outbreaks in congregate care facilities to its list on Friday, though it ruled out outbreaks at Villa St. Albert and the east wing of General Hospital. of Hawkesbury and the district. This reduces the number of such outbreaks to three.
